Abstract

The aims of this research are studied qualities of the typical parents, to study the typical parents in Theravada Buddhism, and to apply qualities of the typical parents to transform the typical parents in present society, the result of this research are:

The qualities of the typical parents are, the Brahmavihâra, the Four Holy Abiding or the Sublime States of Mind, and the qualities appeared in Singâlaka Sutta saying about the parents’ duties to care for their child by five ways. In Theravada Buddhism, there were various admired persons; Visakhâ was praised as the great female devotee, the best female supporter to Buddhism with donation of the four requisites; Anathapindika Setth, the great male devotee, was admired as the foremost in donation and attention to support Buddhism by giving the four requisites to Buddhist monks; and Cittagahapati who was the best on preaching the doctrine.

In the present society, there are four typical parents who have got the qualities in Theravada Buddhism as seen in this research. There are Mrs. Endoo  Thepnakhorn who was selected as outstanding  mother of the year  2012 with diligence and patient and effort, Mrs. Prani  Rojanasinvilai who was the mother of the year  2012 in community  volunteer for the social of  Buriram Social Development and Human Stability Office Mr.Kanit Eamrahong  who is Buriram Governor certified all of them to get  the Mother and father of  the year 2012 certifications on September 22,2012,  Mr. Mali  Markmoon and Doctor Somkuan  Champhueng who were the father of the year  2012.
